Keeping It In The Family

Adam Himel, a real estate agent with Cyprus Partners, is proud of his mom.

You see recently his mom, Melisa Love, was named Chair of the Alabama Forestry Commission.  Additionally, in 2003, Melisa was appointed by the governor to a 5-year term on the Alabama Board Of Registration For Foresters.  As a Registered Forester and founder of family-owned Forestry Consultants, Inc. in Opelika, Alabama, Melisa has a long history of helping rural Alabama landowners.

As well, Melisa’s husband, Terry Love, is a Registered Forester with many years experience who helps manage the family business.  Helping landowners obviously runs in the family. So, it’s not surprising that Adam, who grew up around landowners, has chosen a career helping rural landowners too, only in a slightly different direction.

Terry and Melisa saw that from time-to-time, many of their landowning clients wanted to sell land.  And like many forestry consultants, they were not set up for real estate . . . the forms, licenses, specialized know-how, compliance with the state laws, etc.  So, their clients were going elsewhere for these services.  The trick was how to get set up when you don’t have real estate experience, and you have a lot of forestry clients that need your full-time attention.  This led to a conversation with Cyprus Partners, a like-minded company that specializes in helping people buy and sell rural land.  As a result, Adam got his real estate license, and by partnering with Cyprus Partners, Terry & Melisa can now offer their clients a full line of real estate services.

The arrangement with Terry & Melisa Love is one that Cyprus Partners is expanding.   Recently, Forest Owner Services in Rockford, Alabama, began partnering with Cyprus Partners to make real estate services available to their clients.  Tom Brickman, with Cyprus Partners notes, “many people working with landowners can only watch as land deals come-and-go  . . .  people in the surveying, logging, appraising, extension, ag services and forestry fields.   Cyprus offers a program for “non-real-estate” people that expands the services you can offer your clients, increases your income, and gives you an experienced partner to help you do it.  It’s easy because you don’t have to learn all about the real estate business to do it.”  Learn more at www.CyprusPartners.com/careers.
